For those of you new to the site, I am Liberty Smith, son of Jerry and Mickey Smith, brother of Kenna McFall. It was in the fall of 2002 that I began fiddling around with the idea of designing and maintaining a web site where all of our associated families and friends could gather on-line to a central location. So after doing a bit of web pricing my buddy Scott Riggle came to the rescue by offering me a huge chunk of server space with administrative rights to create a directory to post world view files (i.e. the files that make up a web site for the world to see). After experimenting with various looks and designs, gathering data and photographs and experimenting with different programs I finally had the web site designed and ready for launching.
It was on Sunday, November 10, 2002 that the files were uploaded to the server and the Smith Web Site came on-line. Since then, as of this writing, we have received over 4500 hits. At first it started as an announcement web site, but as of late has become my own personal blog. It all started as sort of a blog when I would post daily happenings (and misshapenness) when Laura and I were going through the process of adopting our beloved daughter Stella. It extended to when we got home from Kazakhstan as our daily routine of being first time parents to our little girl. Along with that, I would opine on the news of the day, pop culture and various other things that would pop into my pea brain.
I am the first to admit that I can be quite opinionated and obnoxious. There may be times that what I write may not be of your personal liking. But remember when I do blog on something, I mean it. You will not get any phony-bologna sentiment here. I may not speak to well from the brain but I do speak from my heart. And anyway, this web site has an "open door policy", meaning there is a message board to post your own blogs and comments. If message boards are not your forte, then feel free to email me at the web site email address that is posted on every blog entry. If you disagree with something I say or find it offensive, please feel free to let me know. I would rather be confronted immediately with something my big mouth, small brain and fast fingers crapped out on a spur of the moment blog entry done at the ungodly hour of 4:30am than hear from second hand sources. I promise I will not bite...hard. :)
